Haven't watched any movies for long. Fed up of vulgar scenes,dialogs and violence in every frame. People say its reality. Wonder if people imitate cinema or cinema mirrors people.

Visuals have a great impact on human minds. Once we see something its very hard to remove it out of our mind. If its a good impact no problems. Movies are just for entertainment and people should have the mindset to just watch it, enjoy it and forget it.Everyone from a small child to a age old man goes crazy on seeing their favorite hero or heroine. Persons who never cares about their loved ones too will worry about a hero/heroines health. Am not jealous about the fans these people have, but it worries me why people are wasting their valuable time while there are lot other worthy things to do. Its really nice to see someone beautiful. Everyone wishes to admire beauty. But going behind them and disturbing their privacy is of no use.

Most human beings get addicted to fame very easily. Once they get it they would do anything to retain it.And as public we in the name of fans are also responsible for this addiction. Depending on a individuals taste each person has his own likes and dislikes.I like a singer, no problem in it.If i hate other singers and abuse or tease them then theres something wrong in my mentality. Maybe i don't like other singers, it doesn't mean they are not aware of singing. Theres never a need for an unnecessary clash.

Many people are still in this earth who believe whatever shown in the screen is truth.They blindly use it as a guide to solve their daily problems.Actors and actresses are Gods for them. Using their innocence to earn lot of money is something very wrong.

A man in arts field has more responsibility. Whatever he creates has much impact in society. Its in his hands to make a positive influence.Why not use the powerful tool cinema for a good change... Hope to see such wonderful films soon...

Let’s at least pass the Message on and enlighten ppl on what is the importance of this Anna Hazare’s Hunger Strike…..

1. Who is Anna Hazare?

An ex-army man. Fought 1965 Indo-Pak War

2. What's so special about him?

He built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahamad Nagar district, Maharashtra

3. So what?

This village is a self-sustained model village. Energy is produced in the village itself from solar power, biofuel and wind mills.

In 1975, it used to be a poverty clad village. Now it is one of the richest village in India. It has become a model for self-sustained, eco-friendly & harmonic village.

4. Ok,...?

This guy, Anna Hazare was awarded Padma Bhushan and is a known figure for his social activities.

5. Really, what is he fighting for?

He is supporting a cause, the amendment of a law to curb corruption in India.

6. How that can be possible?

He is advocating for a Bil, The Lok Pal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), beurocrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their deeds.

7. It's an entirely new thing right..?

In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some are trying to change the bill to suit thier theft (corruption).

8. Oh.. He is going on a hunger strike for that whole thing of passing a Bill ! How can that be possible in such a short span of time?

The first thing he is asking for is: the government should come forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed.

Next, they make a joint committee to DRAFT the LOK PAL BILL. 50% goverment participation and 50% public participation. Because you cant trust the government entirely for making such a bill which does not suit them.

8. Fine, What will happen when this bill is passed?

A LokPal will be appointed at the centre. He will have an autonomous charge, say like the Election Commission of India. In each and every state, Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all alleged party to trial in case of corruptions within 1 year. Within 2 years, the guilty will be punished. Not like, Bofors scam or Bhopal Gas Tragedy case, that has been going for last 25 years without any result.

9. Is he alone? Whoelse is there in the fight with Anna Hazare?

Baba Ramdev, Ex. IPS Kiran Bedi, Social Activist Swami Agnivesh, RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal and many more.

Prominent personalities like Aamir Khan is supporting his cause.

10. Ok, got it. What can I do?

At least we can spread the message.

11. How?

Putting status message, links, video, changing profile pics.

At least we can support Anna Hazare and the cause for uprooting corruption from India.

At least we can hope that his Hunger Strike does not go in vain.

At least we can pray for his good health.

Social networking site... Is it good or bad?

Still I don't have a clear answer for this, but would like to share my views about it.

"Too much of anything is good for nothing" is my viewpoint on most worldly luxuries.But sometimes even I start doubting my thought and try to change myself.But every time I try to move away from this view I get stuck in problems. Nowadays I don't have the courage of even thinking the other way.

When I started using Facebook, I wasn't much interested in it. Since a blogger and an aspiring writer, I slowly loved the friends and guides I got through Facebook. I cannot acquaint with new people, only with very few people I bond with suddenly. Really got many enemies coz of this habit. Being a timid girl, who feels very hesitant to talk to strangers, Facebook helped me gain many good friends. Learning and sharing what we learn is something I like the most in Facebook. When I get a like or a comment for what I shared just now, would really make me happy even when I am upset. We could regain lot of lost contacts including our family, old friends and colleagues who would have been separated from us by distance, long back.Meet people with varied thoughts, creative minds and broaden our thoughts.

Facebook- the name does mean a lot. We could see the faces of our near and dear ones any time we wish, share our joys and sorrows with them.Moreover the Facebook wall of a man gives us his experience, thoughts,achievements,failures and lot more providing us a good learning experience just the way we read a book.

A new movie, or a new book, a match going on or whatever it maybe you can know about it just from the updates of your friends. Thoughtful and healthy debates are also possible. Your newly written piece,designed craft,captured snap,composed song or whatever it may be can be shared to thousands across the world and gain recognition in just a fraction of a second.Seems to be wonderful na....

Every coin has two faces, how come Facebook will be spared from this rule!!!

Certain problems we face include the authentication of the people you befriend. Moreover publishing your works,the comments and friends you get should never add pride in your heart. No recognition for your work doesn't mean what you did is unworthy. Facebook eats up most of your valuable time. So try your best to make it useful.Virtual friends shouldn't throw away your real friends. Don't get addicted to this virtual world and forget reality.

No man can be perfect. Since am too a human being I am not able to bring into writing all the pros and cons. Would be glad if you all would pour your views in the form of comments.

Note:Trying to avoid using "really" in my writing, but friends really am not able to avoid it. Can anyone help me get rid off this reallly :)

With a hot climate prevailing here, just relaxing under fan and thinking what to blog about. Tides of life tries to drag me in its own way. Am trying to learn swimming in it so as to keep myself safe. At least I should learn rowing. During this gap I spent few days writing poetries. After completing a poetry I felt so light hearted, so I started spending time on it. In the mean time really forgot about this blog. Braille is a system of raised dots that allows blind people to read by touch. It was invented in the 19th century by a blind Frenchman named Louis Braille. The dots are embossed on to paper, either by hand or using a machine. They are read by moving the fingers across the top of the dots.Really a very useful invention.

The reader uses both hands - the right works out the message while the left feels ahead for the beginning of the next line.A skilled Braille reader can understand up to 150 words a minute, which is about half the speed of a sighted person reading ordinary text.

The basic unit of Braille is called a cell. It is made up of six dots, which allows for 63 combinations to represent letters, numbers and punctuation marks.

Nicotine is a yellow oily liquid found in tobacco. About 50 milligrams of nicotine would kill an adult within minutes.

the leaves of the purple foxglove contain digitalis and eating just a few can be fatal.Digitalis is used in tiny doses to treat people suffering from heart disease.

A poet and a scientist were traveling together on a plane.
The scientist was bored and said to the poet, "Hey, you, do you want to play a game? I'll ask you a question, and if you get it wrong, you give me $5. Then, you ask me a question, and if I can't answer it, I'll give you $5".
The poet thought about this for a moment, but he decided against it, seeing that the scientist was obviously a very bright man. He politely turned down the scientist's offer.
The scientist, who was really bored, tried again. "Look, I'll ask you a question, and if you can't answer it, you give me $5. Then you ask me a question, and if I can't answer it, I'll give you $50."
The poet agreed.
"Okay," the scientist said, "what is the exact distance between the Earth and the Moon?"
The poet, obviously not knowing the answer, didn't stop to think about the scientist's question. He took a $5 bill out of his pocket and handed it to the scientist.

The man shrugged, rather embarrassed.
Socrates continued. “You may still pass though, because there is a third test, the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be useful to me at all?”
“Well it ..no, not really..”
“Well, concluded Socates, “If what you want to tell me is neither True nor good nor ever Useful, why tell it to me at all?”
The man was defeated and ashamed.
This is the reason Socrates was held in such high esteem. It also explains why he never found out what Plato was up to.

Highway 160

Two college professors were driving down the highway at a very slow speed. A policeman pulled them over and explained that driving so slowly on the highway could be hazardous. The Proffesor on the driver seat pointed out the sign that read "20." He explained that he was going 20 mph because of the sign. The policeman pointed out that the sign indicated they were driving on Highway 20.

Somewhat embarrassed the professor apologized and promised to be more observant.As the policeman turned to walk back to his car, he noticed the other professor on the floor ...looking scared to death! He asked the driver, "What's wrong with them?"The driver replied, "We just turned off Highway 160." :-)

Cars a four-legged bug is a dream of scores of people. Travelling in cars, bus and other luxurious four-wheelers is in actual fact a pleasure as well as a faster mode of travel. People by no means are bothered about wasting fuel or devastating environment. Even I love to travel in cars.What to do? We are accustomed to it, and we cant change our mindset. But I wish I would be in a place where I can doze serenely with no bothersome noise from heavy traffic. But so sad its not possible in my native.

Just now I came across a wonderful fact and thought of sharing it with you.

In this stunning earth there’s a little corner in Italy with many wonders. And one great wonder is it’s a car free area. Most of the conveyance takes place through boats, waterbuses and gondolas. Many people here own private boats, just as we have cars and bikes. Tourists can happily use water taxis. Just as we have roadways they have waterways.Seems really interesting na. Are you so curious to know where on hell it is.

Its none other than beautiful floating Venice.The only city centre devoid of cars is Venice. The only traffic available for them is boats on the canals.

Changing Environment - Need to Change our Thinking

Few years before my beautiful village was very green, calm with a pleasurable climate. But I fear, I couldn’t witness the same splendor again. As an ingredient of development, we have got good roads everywhere, new houses, shops and lot more. We have advanced a lot, change is seen everywhere. People have cut down many trees to plant their buildings there. Most inhabitants believe that buildings give more money than trees. People of this generation don’t even know that trees have life and its needed to balance our environment. Seeing a tree, reminds them of the money they will get on selling it. People no more need a petty income from agriculture. Everyone earns a lot, and money makes them say that they can buy anything in the world.
I wonder if every one thinks so, who will cultivate our food grains. Where will we get food? Are we going to eat money? For constructing building, we have destroyed many rocks and small hills. Without trees and hill barriers, how will we get showers? Farmers toil a lot to grow crops, but what do they get in return?
Land is one of God’s priceless creation which we can’t create. We have to use the existing land in a wise manner so our future generations too could utilize it. As sea level is rising, our available land is shrinking day by day. Arable land obtainable is dreadfully diminutive. We are destroying that too. We are tearing down the future of yet to bud younger generations.
Buying 100 mangoes from a supermarket doesn’t give any contentment. Eating a ripe mango from our own garden is something grand. We definitely need a place to live, why not try to make your place green? Planting a sapling and watering it doesn’t need your hard work, it just needs some time and kindness. Treat your plants as your friends. Make every moment of your life happy and useful.

Illuminating Buildings to make it more Brighter

A good building will not be complete without proper illumination. While travelling at nights, I will be looking in awe the wonderful lightings in restaurants, large institutions, complexes, etc. Once we enter a building too, lights are the first thing that attracts us. If over lighted it will disturb our eye, and if it’s dull it spoils our happiness too. Even in our home it would be very good to have good lightings. Nowadays people have become very conscious about lightings, they carefully choose their indoor as well as outdoor lightings. Many of my friends have opted for Premier Lighting. A good lighted environment has the ability to make our mind calm and peaceful. Rather than ornamental lighting I would be happy to have ordinary lighting at the proper place. Different Colors can also be tried to make the environment brighter. Before adding beauty to your building, don’t forget that you are making Mother Earth warmer.

Big John doesn't pay--- to make you Smile :)

One fine day, a bus driver went to the bus garage, started his bus, and drove off along the route. No problems for the first few stops . a few people got on, a few got off, and things went generally well.
At the next stop, however, a big hulk of a guy got on. Six feet eight,built like a wrestler, arms hanging down to the ground. He glared at the driver and said, "Big John doesn't pay!" and sat down at the back.
Did I mention that the driver was five feet three, thin, and basically meek? Well, he was. Naturally, he didn't argue with Big John, but he wasn't happy about it. The next day the same thing happened . Big John got on again, made a show of refusing to pay, and sat down. And the next day, and the next.
This grated on the bus driver, who started losing sleep over the way Big John was taking advantage of him. Finally he could stand it no longer. He signed up for body building courses, karate, judo, and all that good stuff.
By the end of the summer, he had become quite strong; what's more, he felt really good about himself. So on the next Monday, when Big John once again got on the bus and said, "Big John doesn't pay!"
The driver stood up, glared back at the passenger, and screamed, "And why not?"
With a surprised look on his face, Big John replied, "Big John has a bus pass."

The Nazca Lines are enormous drawings on the ground (called geoglyphs) that stretch across the Nazca Desert in Southern Peru. They show more than 300 geometric patterns, spirals and animals. The lines are so vast (one extends 65 km [ 40 miles ] ) that they can only be seen properly from a height of about 300m ( 1,000 ft ). Most experts agree that they were made by the Nazca Indians who lived in the region between 300 BC and AD 800, but there are many questions yet to be answered about them. For example, why were the pictures made and how are they so precise if their makers had no means to view them from the sky?

So how did ancients draw them?

Researchers say they could have created hot air balloons or kites to fly. Indeed an experiment was carried out and it proved that Nazcans could have made a working balloon. The symbols themselves are of animals and plants.Yet some are long strips of land without any direct meaning.

A writer named Erich Von Daniken believed that these were landing strips of alien spacecraft and aliens could have drawn them.They maybe used for contacting aliens too.There is a monkey drawing with coiled tail which resembles orbital lines of solar system.

Do you know that there is an expiry date (physical life) for LPG cylinders? Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents. In this regard, please be cautious at the time of accepting any LPG cylinder from the vendor.

Here is how we can check the expiry of LPG cylinders:

On one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date is coded alpha numerically as follows A or B or C or D and some two digit number following this e.g. D06.
The alphabets stand for quarters -
1. A for March (First Qtr),
2. B for June (Second Qtr),
3. C for Sept (Third Qtr),
4. D for December (Fourth Qtr).

The digits stand for the year till it is valid. Hence D06 would mean December qtr of 2006. Please Return Back the Cylinder that you get with a Expiry Date, they are prone to Leak and other Hazardous accidents...

I got the following interesting mail yesterday, so thought of sharing it with you friends.

In a small town in America, a person decided to open up his bar
business, which was right opposite to a church. The church & its
congregation started a campaign to block the bar from opening with
petitions and prayed daily against his business.

Work progressed. However, when it was almost complete and was about to
open a few days later, a strong lightning struck the bar and it was
burnt to the ground. The church folk were rather smug in their outlook
after that, till The bar owner sued the church authorities for
$2million on the grounds that the church through its congregation &
prayers was ultimately responsible For the demise of his bar shop,
either through direct or indirect actions or means.

In its reply to the court, the church vehemently denied all
responsibility or any connection that their prayers were reasons to
the bar shop's demise. In support of their claim they referred to the
Benson study at Harvard that inter-cessionary prayer had no impact !

As the case made its way into court, the judge looked over the
paperwork and at the hearing and commented:

'I don't know how I am going to decide this case, but it appears from
the paperwork, we have a bar owner who believes in the power of prayer
and we have an entire church and its devotees that doesn't.'

Hi friends, have you ever heard about twin town.

A remote tropical village Kodinhi, in Kerala,India have attracted many researchers and left their heads scratching. In 2008 alone 15 pairs of twins were born in the village out of 300 healthy deliveries.Last five years have seen up to 60 pairs of new born twins with the rate of twins increasing year-on-year.

Local doctor and twin enthusiast Dr Krishnan Sribiju has been studying the medical marvel of Kodinhi for the past two years. Although 220 sets of twins have been officially registered in the village Dr Sribiju believes the real number to be far higher.

'In my medical opinion there are around 300 to 350 twins within the village boundaries of Kodinhi,' he said. 'What is fascinating is the increasing numbers of twins with each passing year, so much so that I feel in the past ten years the number of twins in Kodinhi has doubled.'

Villagers say, the twin phenomenon only started occurring three generations ago. Dr Sribiju can barely contain his excitement discussing the possible scientific implications of the village.

Most bloggers(real bloggers) would be very good in writing interesting articles. Have you ever tried writing a poetry in English. Outcome will be just few words, but impact is strong. Reader need not waste time reading lot to understand just a line of information. I am presenting you just a simple algorithm of how to start writing sweet poetries.

1. We need to think a lot to decide on a theme or initially capture a thought that ponders your mind over and over again (easier way)
2. Try to bring out the words that come into your mind.
3. Jot it down on a paper
4. Goto step 1 or 2 and repeat it until you are satisfied.
5. Once you are complete think about the placement of words.
6. Read it again and again and make corrections.
7. Idea you convey should be vast but words should be little.
8. Main principle is words should come out spontaneously from your heart and not compulsively from your brain
9. Just allow heart to rule your brain for just few seconds. Then use your brain to smarten (just a face-lift) it.
10. And you are done poet .

Dear friends, my friend was planning for a small picnic to a nearby hill. She needed a good bag to carry some little things. She just enquired about it to me. About one-third of our lives are spent sleeping, but very little is known about it.

Hi friends I read an interesting news from a book and ended in a very funny experience. My mom brought me a book and asked that particular information to be added in my blog.First lets see what I read.

What are the symptoms?

Swine flu symptoms are similar to the symptoms of regular flu and include fever of over 100.4°F, fatigue, lack of appetite, and cold. Some people with swine flu have also reported runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Nearly everyone with flu has at least two of these symptoms.

So, how do you know if you have flu or just cold?

There is one clue:

What is the treatment?

Antiviral drugs can be used to treat swine flu or to prevent infection with swine flu viruses. The anti-viral medicines oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza) are being used to treat people with swine flu. Antiviral drugs work by preventing the flu virus from reproducing. To be effective you need to take them within 48 hours of the symptoms beginning. These flu drugs can decrease the duration of the flu by 1 to 2 days if used within this early time period. These antivirals are usually given for a period of about 5-7 days. It's unclear whether these drugs can prevent complications of the flu. Tamiflu is approved for prevention and treatment in people 1 year old and older. Relenza is approved for treatment of people 7 years old and older and for prevention in people 5 years old and older. These medications must be prescribed by a health care professional.

Side effects:

Side effects of antiviral drugs may include nervousness, poor concentration, nausea, and vomiting. Relenza is not recommended for people with a history of breathing problems, such as asthma, because it may cause a worsening of breathing problems. Discuss side effects with your doctor.

Self medication:

Antibiotics are a no-no. Chances are that antibiotics will not help your flu symptoms. That's because flu, colds, and most sore throats and bronchitis are caused by viruses. In addition, taking antibiotics when you have a virus may do more harm than good. Taking antibiotics when they are not needed increases your risk of getting an infection later that resists antibiotic treatment. Antibiotics only cure certain infections due to bacteria -- and if taken carelessly, you may get more serious health problems than you bargained for.

Is there a vaccine to treat swine flu virus?

No, there isn’t a vaccine yet. But vaccines are being made in large quantities. Clinical tests will begin in August 2009. Depending on how long federal officials wait for the results of these tests, tens of millions of doses of swine flu vaccine could be ready as soon as September 2009, with more vaccine becoming available each month thereafter. The first doses of vaccine likely will go to pregnant women and young children ages 6 months to 4 years, with older school kids to follow.

How does it spread?

The new swine flu virus is highly contagious, that is it spreads from person to person. The virus is spread through the droplets that come out of the nose or mouth when someone coughs or sneezes. If you are very nearby you might breathe them in.Or, if someone coughs or sneezes into their hand, those droplets and the virus within them are easily transferred to surfaces that the person touches, such as door handles, hand rails, telephones and keyboards. If you touch these surfaces and touch your face, the virus can enter your system, and you can become infected.

Can it be prevented?

Influenza antiviral drugs also can be used to prevent influenza when they are given to a person who is not ill, but who has been or may be near a person with swine influenza. When used to prevent the flu, antiviral drugs are about 70% to 90% effective. When used for prevention, the number of days that they should be used will vary depending on a person’s particular situation.

Follow this general procedure to reduce the risk of catching or spreading the virus, you should:

Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, using a tissue
Throw the tissue away quickly and carefully
Wash your hands regularly with soap and water
Clean hard surfaces (like door handles and remote controls) frequently with a normal cleaning product
Keep away from others as much as possible. This is to keep from making others sick. Do not go to work or school while ill
Stay home for at least 24 hours after fever is gone, except to seek medical care or for other necessities. (Fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.)
Drink clear fluids (such as water, broth, sports drinks, electrolyte beverages for infants) to keep from being dehydrated
Wear a facemask – if available and tolerable – when sharing common spaces with other household members to help prevent spreading the virus to others.

Will it help to wear a mask?

Information on the effectiveness of facemasks and respirators for decreasing the risk of influenza infection in community settings is extremely limited. So, it is difficult to assess their potential effectiveness in decreasing the risk of Swine Flu virus transmission in these settings. However, a well-fitted, FDA-approved mask together with other preventive measures MAY reduce the risk of contracting the flu. Those who are sick or caring for someone who is ill should consider using a mask or respirator if leaving the house becomes necessary.

Two things - soap and water can reduce the chance of infection by 30 per cent. All you need to do is keep washing your hand with soap and water frequently. These minerals are found in protein rich foods such as beans, nuts, meat, and poultry.

Exercise:

Regular exercise may help prevent the flu. According to recent findings, when moderate exercise is repeated on a near daily basis, there is a cumulative immune-enhancing effect. That is, your strong immune system can fight flu better. When you exercise, your white blood cells -- the blood cells that fight infections in the body -- travel through your body more quickly, fighting bacteria and viruses (such as flu) more efficiently. To maintain good health, experts recommend at least 30 minutes of aerobic activity such as walking, swimming, biking, or running each day.

Is it safe to travel?

Avoid travelling unnecessarily. However, if you must travel, check how the country you're going to handles swine flu. Although, the WHO doesn't recommend travel restrictions, many countries have set up their own H1N1 policies, and some travellers have been screened or quarantined in other countries because of swine flu concerns.

1. Verbs HAS to agree with their subjects.
2. Never use a preposition to end a sentence with. Winston Churchill, corrected on this error once, responded to the young man who corrected him by saying "Young man, that is the kind of impudence up with which I will not put!
3. And don't start a sentence with a conjunction.
4. It is wrong to ever split an infinitive.
5. Avoid cliches like the plague. (They're old hat.)
6. Also, always avoid annoying alliteration.
7. Be more or less specific.
8. Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are (usually) unnecessary.
9. Also too, never, ever use repetitive redundancies endlessly over and over again
10. No sentence fragments.
11. Contractions aren't always necessary and shouldn't be used to excess so don’t.
12. Foreign words and phrases are not always apropos.
13. Do not be redundant; do not use more words than necessary; it's highly superfluous and can be excessive
14. All generalizations are bad.
15. Comparisons are as bad as cliches.
16. Don't use no double negatives.
17. Avoid excessive use of ampersands & abbrevs., etc.
18. One-word sentences? Eliminate.
19. Analogies in writing are like feathers on a snake (Unless they are as good as gold).
20. The passive voice is to be ignored.
21. Eliminate commas, that are, not necessary. Parenthetical words, however, should be enclosed in commas.
22. Never use a big word when substituting a diminutive one would suffice.
23. Don’t overuse exclamation points!!!
24. Use words correctly, irregardless of how others use them.
25. Understatement is always the absolute best way to put forth earth-shaking ideas
26. Use the apostrophe in it's proper place and omit it when its not needed and use it correctly with words’ that show possession.
27. Don’t use too many quotations. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "I hate quotations.. Tell me what you know."
28. If you've heard it once, you've heard it a billion times: Resist hyperbole; not one writer in a million can use it correctly. Besides, hyperbole is always overdone, anyway.
29. Puns are for children, not groan readers.
30. Go around the barn at high noon to avoid colloquialisms.
31. Even IF a mixed metaphor sings, it should be derailed.
32. Who needs rhetorical questions? However, what if there were no rhetorical questions?
33. Exaggeration is a billion times worse than understatement.

Widget is short for Window Gadget. The term was first applied to user interface elements in 1988. The desktop widget is a small specialised GUI (Graphic User Interface) application that gives visual information and/or easy access to frequently used functions like converters,weather guides,calendars and desktop notes. These kind of widgets are hosted by a widget engine like the Mac OS X Dashboard or the Yahoo! widget engine. When widgets are active, they stay on your computer's home screen.

A web widget is a portable chunk of code that can be installed and executed within any separate HTML-based web page by an end user without requiring additional compilation. They are derived from the idea of code reuse. Other terms used to describe web widgets include: gadget, badge, module, webjit, capsule, snippet, mini and flake.

Applications can be integrated within a third party website by the placement of a small snippet of code. The code brings in ‘live’ content – advertisements, links, images – from a third party site without the web site owner having to update or control.Widget can be malicious too. Indonesia lost world with pictures

In 2006 a team of 12 scientists returned from an area of rainforest in Indonesia where no humans had ever set foot before.It lies in the Fojo Mountains on the island of New Guinea and it is so difficult to reach that the explorers had to be dropped in by helicopter. They discovered dozens of new animals and plants, including an orange-faced honeyeater, a golden-mantled tree kangaroo, 20 new species of frog, 4 new species of butterfly, a giant rhododendron flower, and a species of bird that had been considered extinct for over 100 years.

This small frog is 1 of more than 20 new frog species discovered by scientists on an expedition in New Guinea in late 2005.The tiny frog measures a mere 0.6 inch (14 millimeters) long and was detected only when it produced a soft call from among leaves on the steepest part of the forest floor.

In late 2005 scientists on the island of New Guinea took this first ever photo of the golden-fronted bowerbird, a bird known to exist since the 1890s but whose precise home was unknown until the 1980s.

The smoky honeyeater is the first new bird species to be discovered on the island of New Guinea since 1939.

The golden-mantled tree kangaroo is the rarest arboreal, jungle-dwelling kangaroo in the world, the researchers say. This was the first time the mammal was found in Indonesia, making it only the second site in the world where the species is known to exist.

Heroic Mother Squirrel

Amazing photos showing an heroic mother squirrel rescuing its baby from an insistent dog.

In the first photo the dog has the baby squirrel between his front paws and while the mother squirrel is looking on fearfully from the tree trunk.
The mother squirrel launches herself at the dog effectively giving her youngster a chance to get away.
In the third photo we can see the heroic rescuer carrying her baby up the tree to safety.
