Who to blame?

Peeping through the shoulders of my dad

I admired the green paddy fields, waving mad

With playful merry heart and curious eyes

I couldn’t view past those tall green trees

*

Smart school going kid, with formal attire

Everywhere green God, with little human empire

Cycling all the way to school across coconut abodes

At times I feared to pass by the abandoned roads

*

I grew tall and handsome, an energetic youngster

Alas! Till now I thought earth a planet greener

Tender green trees transformed into concrete wilderness

Rough polluted wind instead of cool breeze with tenderness

*

Journeys aren’t pleasant now, nowhere to picnic

Even hillstations have been exploited

Everything has become a dream

Who to be blamed man or God?
